Sales and account management & business development
Travelport
Marking 40 years in business, Travelport - the global travel distribution system and airline IT-solution provider - is adding to its 340 staff in Asia Pacific, with openings in sales and account management, hospitality business development, and media sales in Hong Kong.
The firm is headquartered in New York, serves 140 countries and has a presence in 40 markets with sales, service and support offices.
According to Catherine Ng, Travelport human resources manager for Asia Pacific, the firm offers a matrix environment, with a well-developed system of internal transfers and succession planning.
"We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, results-oriented team players," Ng says. "Applicants should have strong prioritisation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence."
While applicants should speak the local language, they should also be conversant in English.
Ng says matrix-style management encourages innovation and rapid action with freer information flow, and promotes integration and team work.
Consequently, employee engagement and team building is an important part of the company's human resources policy. Funds are streamed towards relevant activities.
A set of company values - called CHOICE - is built into the employee performance rating. The letters stand for customer first, honesty, ownership, innovation, collaboration and execution. The last refers to meeting professional commitments and delivering results.
The company offers a four-module training programme to new hires and over 100 online courses for staff.
