Sales, engineering, food and beverage, rooms division
Auberge, Discovery Bay Hong Kong Hotel
A new resort hotel is opening in Hong Kong and will be recruiting their second batch of pre-opening team members.
Currently working with 20 staff, Anne Busfield, general manager of the upcoming Auberge, Discovery Bay Hong Kong, is looking to hire another 24 people. "We are recruiting in various departments, including sales, engineering and food and beverage, plus the rooms division," Busfield says.
The seaside oasis of 325 full-sea-view rooms and suites will be located half-way between Hong Kong and the airport, and will open later this year.
The positions offer excellent career-building opportunities by increasing employee experience in pre-opening and resort service and management.
"We are able to offer applicants a unique opportunity to gain pre- opening experience in a resort. As there are not many new resorts in Hong Kong, this means that our team members will further develop their careers when they join," she says.
Busfield is seeking highly energetic incomers with positive and dynamic personalities. The ideal candidate should be passionate about the service industry and always "seeking opportunities to create experience".
She expects staff to constantly and continuously exceed guest expectations. "Possessing a positive attitude, being customer service-oriented, a good team player, and highly adaptable with cultural awareness are also important soft skills necessary to do the job well," she says.
Fluency in three languages - Cantonese, Putonghua and English - is also a requirement for most positions.
The resort will follow parent company HKR International's philosophy of the vision of being a pioneer of innovative living space, adhering to the values of PRI²DE - meaning pioneer, respect, innovation, integrity, devotion and excellence.
New hires will go through a rigorous orientation. The six-day induction consists of training in customer service skills, telephone communication, health and safety, product knowledge, system and language training. Three weeks on-the-job training will be given to all team members prior to the soft opening.
"We have a highly effective induction programme that enables [staff] to effectively settle into their new job very quickly," Busfield says.
Management-level training will be offered to polish skills, including interview techniques and people-management skills. Staff are offered voluntary MPF top-up, a medical scheme with preferred rate to family members and a dental care scheme. The firm also offers 12 to 18 days' paid annual leave, marriage, paternity and compassionate leave, discretionary bonuses and free transport.
