Woods Bagot wins Asia Pacific Awards for three projects

HONG KONG: Woods Bagot won the Asia Pacific Property Awards in architecture for the New Market Trading Centre of China International Service Outsourcing in Beijing, and in interior design for the Kerry Parkside in Shanghai. It also won an Asia Pacific Hotel Award for its redesign of the iconic InterContinental Hong Kong Ballroom, Lobby and Lobby Lounge.

“We are thrilled to be recognised in these prestigious awards for not one, but three of our projects,” said Woods Bagot director Stephen Jones during the awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, also attended by Charlotte Varley and Billy Ip of Woods Bagot’s Hong Kong studio.

“Each is innovative in its own way, with true dedication by the project teams visible in the design outcomes,” Jones added.

“A sincere thank you to our visionary clients and consultant teams for enabling us to realise these world-leading designs,” said Woods Bagot regional executive chairman Vince Pirrello.

The firm won the ‘Office Architecture Highly Commended’ citation for its New Market Trading Centre of China International Service Outsourcing in Beijing, the future landmark centrepiece of Z Park, a cross-junction of ecological, high-tech industry and academia zones located to the north of Beijing. The project features spectacular green views and an iconic architectural form. The campus building will become a significant anchor for Z Park’s overall master plan as well represent China’s significant outsourcing industry.

Woods Bagot’s Kerry Parkside in Shanghai was awarded ‘Retail Interior Highly Commended’. The mall opened in October 2011 and is closely integrated with the

Shanghai New International Expo Centre, hotel, serviced-apartments and office tower. Kerry Parkside’s retail design is conceptualised as an elegant retail warehouse and features large, flexible market style spatial volumes.

The firm was also honoured with ‘Best Hotel Interior Highly Commended’ for its redesign of the iconic InterContinental Hong Kong Ballroom, Lobby and Lobby Lounge.

The wrap-around, three-storey plate glass windows of the Lobby Lounge offers panoramic harbour views, while the Ballroom showcases a contemporary and luxurious redesign combined with upgraded flexibility, efficiency and state-of-the-art facilities.
