UBS launched its latest wealth management associate programme last month as part of continuing efforts to develop a pipeline of talent in the region.
To be accepted, candidates must have a bachelor's, master's or an MBA degree from a leading university, and between three and five years' professional experience, preferably in banking or finance.
Applicants must be ambitious, focused, determined and have strong analytical and relationship management skills.
The 12-month programme consists of classroom and on-the-job training, plus job rotations.
Its UBS Business University oversees training in leadership and other essential areas. It brings everything under one "virtual" roof, rather than leaving it to different divisions, thus increasing efficiency and effectiveness. Training and education activities are aligned for employees around the world, and the centre of excellence promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
A series of learning pathways guide staff from induction to skill enhancement and specialisation, and allows them to learn about the main functions of different divisions. Senior leaders from within the firm are seconded to assist with training and external experts are invited to provide best-in-class knowledge on specialist topics.
Along with this formal training, there is continuous coaching and support to ensure that development and individual progress maintain the right momentum. The UBS "university" has delivered about 24,000 training days and 2,000 training events.
