HONG KONG: Galaxy Macau has appointed Samson Woo as assistant vice-president for hotel and event sales. In his new role, Woo – who has over 20 years’ industry experience – will be responsible for leading room and events sales for Galaxy Macau.
Woo’s extensive hospitality, sales and marketing career began in 1993 at The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong, where he was director of sales for five years.
He then moved to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as regional director of business development for China, stationed in Shanghai. During this time, Woo won the hotel group’s “Best Individual Achievement Award – Asia Pacific”.
After more than three years running Hong Kong Disneyland’s travel trade sales, he returned to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as director of sales and marketing for its newly opened Macau property. Directly prior to joining Galaxy Macau, Woo was assistant general manager for marketing, for K11 Concepts in Hong Kong.
“[Woo] will be a great asset to Galaxy Macau, bringing an enormous depth of experience with some of the best known names in the hotel and tourism industry,” said Paul Town, vice-president for revenue management and sales at Galaxy Macau.
“He also has invaluable knowledge of the Asia region and many of our most important markets. I am excited to welcome him aboard and am sure he will thrive at one of the world’s most dynamic integrated resorts, with three exceptional hotel brands – Galaxy Hotel, Hotel Okura Macau and Banyan Tree Macau, in our rapidly developing home town of Macau.”
