DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific Makes Senior Appointments

--- Charles Kaufmann is appointed Regional Head of Operations and Value Added Services

SINGAPORE, Sept. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, has appointed Charles Kaufmann as Senior Vice President, Operations and Value Added Services Asia Pacific. Li Wenjun has been promoted to take his place as Head of Air Freight, DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific. Both Charles and Wenjun will report directly to Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, Charles will continue to drive the development of Value Added Services across the region and DHL Global Forwarding's business in Mongolia and the Korean Peninsula in addition to his new role while Wenjun takes on the responsibility of driving the development of the air freight business for the region out of China. Wenjun also joins the Asia Pacific Management Board for the first time.

Value Added Services remain a key focus for DHL Global Forwarding and cover customized road transport network services under Road Freight; Multimodal Solutions which offer the most efficient combination of multiple transport modes with optimized lead times; value added services to air and ocean freight shipments through Logistics Management Services; International Supply Chain Management across different transport modes and international borders; a carrier-neutral Lead Logistics Provider service which offers end-to-end supply chain management; Customs services to ensure uniform, consistent and compliant trade activities; Control Tower services for freight operations and supply chain visibility; and Security which offers freight security management, business continuity management and state-of-the-art risk assessment.

Charles joined Deutsche Post DHL in 1973 and became CEO, DHL Global Forwarding North Asia for Japan and Korea in 2006 before being appointed as COO for North Asia Pacific in 2011. He has held responsibility for operations in 21 countries in the region, managing air freight operations, implementing cost-efficient purchasing and pricing policies to achieve strong year-on-year revenue growth and set new standards of operational excellence. He became Head of Air Freight and Value Added Services in DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific in 2012, helping to build the freight forwarding activities and multi-modal network in Asia Pacific.

Wenjun joined DHL Global Forwarding in 2004 as China's Air Freight Gateway Manager before being appointed as Head of Air Freight China in 2009, positioning the company as a leading solution provider for customers in terms of developing new routing and cost effective solutions. In 2012, his team was awarded the internal Global CEO Award for Best Air Freight Team.
