20 openings in sales and marketing, F&B and rooms
Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers
Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers has 20 vacancies from entry- to middle manager-levels in its sales and marketing, food and beverage and room divisions.
"With the implementation of the new rest-day arrangement this year, we have slightly increased our manpower level," says human resources director Mazy Cheng, explaining that the hotel increased the number of rest days to three full days every two weeks.
The Tsim Sha Tsui hotel, a member of the Starwood group and which has more than 610 employees, is looking for people with drive, passion and confidence. "A pleasant and outgoing personality definitely contributes positively to the job. After all, the hospitality industry is all about people and making genuine connections with people," Cheng says.
Such personalities will definitely fit in with the Sheraton brand's core values of warmth, connectivity and community. To show guests a genuine welcome, Sheraton offers staff interesting cultural awareness sessions. "Japanese and Chinese culture [seminars] are arranged for our associates to enable them to understand our guests more and emotionally 'connect' them with our 'warm' touches," Cheng explains.
To show its care for the community, systematic green practices and training ranging from energy-saving to food-waste recycling, as well as food safety and hygiene, are all in place at Sheraton Hong Kong.
Those committed to service and developing their career in hospitality will find that the talent development programmes at three levels - including cross-training and on leadership - can help associates make the next career step. The Starwood family, which has more than 1,100 hotels worldwide and is currently opening an average of one hotel every 10 days, offers plenty of room for career development. The Sheraton chain alone has some 100 properties in Greater China.
Perks include discounted stays for associates and their family at certain Starwood hotels, a comprehensive medical plan, and free annual health check-ups.
